Avian Leukosis Virus (ALV) causes tumors and immunosuppression in chickens. Its p27 gene encodes a conserved capsid protein (30% of virion mass), serving as a key diagnostic antigen. ALV spreads vertically, necessitating strict biosecurity and genetic resistance strategies.
